Commercial Construction Superintendent        

A construction superintendent oversees the operations of a construction site, from planning to completion. The duties of a construction superintendent will vary; however, they can expect to be responsible for daily scheduling, supervising all activities and tasks, and ensuring the safety and compliance of the site.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.         Oversee operations of construction site from planning to completion.

2.         Proactively leading and managing the on-site construction team.

3.         Monitoring and ensuring on-site safety compliance, cleanliness and orderliness.

4.         Contact subcontractors and schedule day-to-day operations.

5.         Estimate, order and coordinate materials as needed to assist the Project Manager.

6.         Review plans with Architect and Project Manager for scope of work.

7.         Coordinate with city officials as to codes, requirements and inspections.

8.         Look ahead for possible lack of information on plans that could possibly lead to construction problems.

9.         Utilize computer software for scheduling, job reports, photos, etc.

10.       Review submittals.

11.       Review invoices and code to appropriate division as needed to assist the Project Manager.

12.       Coordinate, supervise, and/or manage several projects at same time, as needed.

13.       Monitor changes to plans for as builts at end of job.

14.       Monitor quality of workmanship by subcontractors.

15.       Research new or better processes and/or material.

16.       Maintain good working relationship between subcontractors, suppliers and owners.

17.       Communicate job progress with the Client.

18.       Field Change Orders as needed.

REQUIREMENTS:

1.         Minimum three (3) years’ commercial experience.

2.         Proficient with MS Office Word, Excel and cloud-based construction management software.

3.         Ability to interpret and accurately build-to drawings, specifications and other contract documents.

4.         Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

5.         Organized and efficient mind set.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

1.         Walk job continuously 6-8 hours per day in an outdoor environment.

2.         Climb stairs, ladders, scaffolding and other means of elevation change.

3.         Tolerate high humidity and cold wet temperatures throughout the day.

4.         Ability to lift 50 pounds.
